This is the traditional procedure for excessive and loose skin of the abdominal wall. The tummy tuck deals with all three components of the abdominal wall. The excessive abdominal skin and the lower abdominal fat is removed. Also the low muscles are tightened and restored to their pre-pregnancy position. The procedure is performed by making a lower abdominal horizontal incision and accessing the excessive lower abdominal skin and fat. At the same time the muscle is tightened. The length of the scar can be small as in a minituck or larger depending on how much sagging skin is present. Recovery is about one week before returning to work and about four weeks for full exercise.
